Proving to be a human 2024
oil, acrylic spray, printed paper on canvases combined with fabric and rags, 120 × 158 cm

While navigating the internet, we are occasionally asked to prove that we are human—by choosing two horses, identifying objects, or completing visual puzzles. I became interested in the strange images that appear in these tests: kitschy, low-resolution pictures produced and circulated through highly refined automated systems. I started collecting them and placing them alongside similar images and objects I encountered in everyday life. In the paintings, these different sources begin to overlap, making the distinction between online images and lived experience less certain.
